Yes, something went wrong.

If you want better answers, you have to ask better questions.  Show us
exactly what commands you typed and the entire output you received. 
Tell us what release(s) of CVS you're running and on what platform(s). 
Tell us whether you're using a local repository or client/server.  And
be especially careful to tell us if you're using anything other than the
standard CVS like WinCVS or cvsNT.
