If this is saying what I think it's saying, you've put your
repository *inside* your project's working directory.  That works
for RCS, but not for CVS.

The repo must not live under the working directory, nor vice
versa.  They have to be disjoint trees.


By the way:

1.10 is ancient.  Upgrading would be a very good thing; many bugs
have been fixed.  (It won't affect your current situation,
though; that's not a CVS bug.)
