I  can't see  your point.   When I  said "wild  cards", I  don't meant
they're HARD-CODED into  CVS source code.  The wild  card patterns are
to be  put in a config  file, not unlike  CVSROOT/cvsignore.

Wild card patterns  are just a generalization of  extensions.  I can't
see  why extensions  would work  while wild  card patterns  don't.  If
programmers can stick with naming conventions described by extensions,
why can't they do the same with wild card patterns?
