remove an empty directory

I would like to know how to remove a directory i had created by mistake.
I want that directory disapear from the next checkout i'll do.
The solution proposed in the tutorial :
update -P
remove well my directory but my directories come back with the next 
checkout.

Maybe someone knows ?!

PS : I use cvs 1.11.2
