cvs [commit aborted]: lock failed - giving up

Hi everyone, I'm trying to commit files into the repository and here is the
error message I get:

/#cvs.lock): No such file or directoryctory for `/home/my/cvs/repository
cvs commit: lock failed - giving up
cvs [commit aborted]: lock failed - giving up

I have previously locked the two files I tried to commit, but even after I
release the lock I still get the same error message.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
