Problem in connecting pserver(RedHat 6.2)

Hi,
 My pserver is running under linux 6.2.

# telnet localhost 2401
Trying 127.0.0.1...
Connected to localhost.
Escape character is '^]'.
XYZ
Connection closed by foreign host
 
But when i try to connect it is generating error like this

# su cvsuser
# export CVSROOT=:pserver:address@hidden:/usr/local/cvs
# cvs login
(Logging in to address@hidden)
CVS password: 
cvs [login aborted]: received broken pipe signal


ls  -al /home/
total 7
drwxr-xr-x   7 root     root         1024 Sep 23 16:22 .
drwxr-xr-x  24 root     root         1024 Nov  9  2001 ..
drwxrwxr-x   2 FAHEEMA  cvsgroup     1024 Sep 23 17:01 FAHEEMA
drwxrwxr-x   3 cvsuser  cvsgroup     1024 Sep 24 15:01 cvsuser

I have created the passwd file using htpasswd. And the passwd file is kept
under the /usr/local/cvsrepo/CVSROOT directory.
