It was only "a philosophical point of contention" _before_ the "ignore"
feature was implemented.
Now it has been implemented, and it is cast in stone because it is a
fundamental part of how the UI is designed to work. Like Larry has been
trying to tell you: CVS does what you tell it to do. If you don't want
it to do something then DO NOT TELL IT TO DO THAT THING!
