Followup to 1.12.[4-5] waiting on lock core dump

Just wondering if anyone had a chance to look into this yet. We 
have upgraded to 1.12.3, but can't go higher do to the server 
core dumping on race condition of loser of competing commits for 
a lock in a directory. I had provided -ttt and core trace output.
