This means there is no CVS subdirectory, so CVS has no clue where to look in
the repository. The message itself is a little overboard - I think the
"*PANIC*" could be removed without any loss of information, and will cause a
lot less panic among new users ;-)

You'll have to check out the module first. The editors command does not work
against the repository, but against the current directory.
