Could you also put a chgrp command in a commitinfo script to change the 
group of files being committed? I'm not sure that will work, though.

How about making a commitinfo script that starts a process in the 
background that sleeps a short time and then does a chgrp on all on all the 
files in the repository directory involved in the commit? That should do it 
and will probably be better than a crontab job.
