pserver access with IP

Hello,
we use CVS on FreeBSD and login from windows PC-s. All works fine if I add
the server domain name in the pserver configuration on the client.
But if I want to connect with the IP address it doesn't work. I can not
connect in this case!
Is it possible to connect using IP address?
