People can only really learn effectively from their mistakes.

In other words making the world totally safe and sanitized would
eventually result in total disappearance of humans as we are now.

Managers who cannot let their people screw up and learn from their
mistakes are not very good managers.

The very addition of a version control system to the development process
makes it possible to let people screw up without causing irrepairable
damage to the whole project.
