Mirorring the repository in CVS

Hi:

We are having a CVS setup where in there is one repository and there
are different users across differnt sites (worldwide). The problem we
are facing is with the checkouts, which take quite some to execute. I
have heard about some version control systems which have a mirroring
capablitly wherein we can mirror the repositories across sites which
reduces the throughput time for CVS commands. Is there any thing like
that available in CVS or any kind of work around in CVS. One option
might be to use triggers, did any one try this and what are the
disadvantages/pitfalls in using triggers, specially when there is a
clash when two people try to check in the same file.

Any inputs would be greatly appreciated.
