Well, at the risk of asking the obvious, were the backups made before or
after the files were deleted?

Less obvious question: what exactly do you mean by "i'm getting my
deleted files": do you mean that the repository files removed by 'cvs
remove' are appearing in the repository, or do you mean that a checkout
or update retrieves the working files into your local directory, or do
you mean something else entirely?
