Hi,

I'm setting CVS server to support multiple independent projects, each with
its own repository. I'm following recommendations from
http://ximbiot.com/cvs/wiki/index.php?title=CVS_FAQ#How_do_I_get_CVS_pserver
_working_with_xinetd.3F but wonder how many repositories maybe supported
using "redirect-cvs
" trick. Does anyone have a good/bad experience using this approach ? How
many repositories did you manage to support? Any other alternatives beside
pserver and SSH tunneling?

Regards
Stas

Stas,

I have a CVS server (running on FreeBSD) that currently supports three
separate repositories using pserver mode (with an --allow-root assignment
defined for each repository in my etc/inetd.conf file). I am not aware of
any limits on the number of repositories that can be managed in this manner
(of course, I'm not an expert, so you may want to take that with a grain of
salt!). FWIW, I have had absolutely no trouble with this setup -- at all --
and it has been running flawlessly for 6 years straight (the first 3 years
on Linux, the last 3 years on FreeBSD).
