Thanks for your prompt reply. 

Yes, I knew cvs does not lock on it. But if I remove some files from
checkout dir, when I run status later, it will print out following
warning message which I don't want it. 

cvs status: warning: r057/source/a2fFake.c is not (any longer) pertinent

I think CVS directory still contains checkout information. Is there any
way to get rid of this warning message?

maybe I am misinterpreting what you really need.  but in CVS, checkout
doesn't lock the object.  So as long as you dont modify the file that
you didn't need, you are okay.  does it help?
