Absolutely not.  The commercial packages that failed had no relationship
whatsoever to CVS.  In any event, keep in mind that these failures did
occur some time in the 90's, so we aren't talking about anything recent.
The point was more that CVS has been so stable there was no practical
need to consider anything else.
