CVS installed .
I dont know how to use it and how to configure it.
Please tell me directions so that I am able to use it.

Have you used _any_ version control system before? If you ask further questions we (the mailing list) may be able to leverage your prior experience to help you understand the current situation.

cvs-9.RHEL4.x86_64.rpm

I sure hope RHEL4 is not running cvs version 9.
try running `cvs --version`
and use the line that starts "Concurrent Versions System (CVS)" to determine which version of the Cederqvist manual[1] to use.

Note, I highly recommend reading the whole manual[1] before going to the FAQ [2] unless you are in a huge need of kick starting the process, the FAQ assumes a bit of knowledge of version control and the manual will help with some of that. When you are ready for a bit deeper knowledge look at ACME[3], and for that Ocean deep pool feel, go to the cm crossroads[4].

For some books try [5] & [6].
