project name appears twice; test dir missing

I am using CVS as part of myEclipse.  The issue is that the directory tree
appears twice in the Synchronise window (my project is called "mrm" and
"mrm" appears twice, each with a different directory tree.  Some files will
appear under one and some under the other.)

I have tried:

1. re-installing myEclipse with a new workspace
2. detaching my project from the repository and checking it in again with a
different name

Would be very grateful for any insight into what might be going on and how
to straighten things out.
