I use Libtool over NFS all the time with no problems.
Looks like your hardware.

I've been having frequent but intermittent problems when using libtool to
link our Pathan software product.
During the install or finish stages I frequently get input/output errors:
eg.
ranlib: .libs/libpathan.a: rename: Input/output error
ranlib: /home/local/tom/cvs/Pathan/lib/libpathan.a: rename: Input/output
error
I was wondering if there were known issues with libtool/NFS (although I
couldn't find any on the web)?
