Autoconf 2.5x depricates the name "configure.in" in
preference of configure.ac.  HEAD CVS of Libtool is
using Autoconf 2.5x, and therefore has configure.ac
rather than configure.in.

Autoconf 2.50+ doesn't use configure.in so it is not needed.
