Okay wait - let me get a clean slate; I had already applied an old
DESTDIR patch from Abel Cheung.  More later.

Update now that I've done that: eek, this is embarrassing.  Now a clean
1.5.22 (sans any patches at all) installs evolution just fine.

I only hope that in the meantime the DESTDIR support in libtool has been
fixed so that it doesn't link against older installed libraries in
preference to the new ones in DESTDIR.  Should be fine (*holds thumbs*),
looks like it has the right -L options now.
