fair enough.

in the interim prior to the creation of that 'real' branch, might be
helpful to simply alias head to branch-2-2  ...

i could likely be reading it wrong (it's rather, er, involved ...),
but it might be (more?) consistent with the cvs numbering
instructions.

it would make life a little easier for those users that choose to
stick with the stable branch -- even after y'all split off a 23x-head,
& would not require any of the aforementioned 'needless' branch
maintenance.


just a thought.
