I have stressed that point in one of our meetings. and I guess it was
somehow accepted. Perhaps the orientation of the UOC approach is too heavy and
can be splitted down in one course te get beginners work with a workable
free software workstation, and one or two administration courses.
Probably a metadistro like knoppix or gnome2-live can be a good
startpoint, specially if it is installable. Starting with a pure Debian
could be amazing for many.
