Follow-up Comment #12, bug #53027 (group octave):

Looks good to me as a change for the stable branch.

Would it make sense to have the cleanup of that test in an
`unwind_protect_cleanup`-block to make sure it runs even if the prior assert
should have failed? It might make sense to also include the `clear -global X`
in that cleanup block.
(That change would probably be more suitable for the default branch.)
