I am running the standard eeeOS (a Xandros/Debian
based OS) that came with the eeePC 901. Can anyone help me pls?

but which linux distribution are you running on your eeePC?
If you are running Ubuntu 8.10 intrepid for example you have to add
deb http://paparazzi.enac.fr/ubuntu intrepid main
to your sources.list.
Which one did you add to your sources.list?
