Hi Eric,

I just set the xbees using the FTDI usb adapter. I suspect you have
one as well for the ground station side?
After that you definitely don't need hardware handshaking for them to
work on booz.

Also since you are using the newer ZB (formerly series 2) and not the
802.15.4 ones you will also have to program one as a coordinator and
the other(s) as routers or end-devices. See
