I just checked and the HITL_USB airframe also uses IAP ( aka the usb
bootloader ) for flashing, so it shouldn't have cleared your
bootloader.
That no LED is blinking is normal on the other hand as HITL_USB wants
to run on a tiny2.11 where LEDs are connected at different locations.
Can you "tail /var/log/messages" and see if you get a message about a
new usb device when you power your board with USB plugged in ?
