[Bug-gnubg] Documentation

Hi folks,

just found a few minutes to reorganize my mind and write a few lines
about the docu and webpage.

First of all I'm sorting more than 2000 e-mails from this list (lot of
traffic compared to last year) into:

positions (like strange bearoff)
formulars (like calculating the equity)
bugs (Things that still have to be done)
workarounds (Things that work, but not in an easy way)
faqs (I will update the faq shortly after crawling through my mails)

(BTW, Alef, any problems with the texi format?)

I think that part of this stuff should be published on the webpage.I
will also take a look at the new bugtracking system at
http://savannah.gnu.org/bugs/?group=gnubg. My suggestion is to keep it
there and do a _big_ link to it at www.gnubg.org (Why change things that
obviously seem to work?).

For the documentation I prefer topics like these:

-installing
        --windows
        --Linux
        --Other
-playing
        --game
        --match
        --session
        --Hypergammon
-analysing
        --evaluation
        --rollouts
-export/import
-settings
        --play(ers)
        --tutor
        --analyse
        --look & feel

-extras
        --rating
        --command line
        --batch files/scripts
        --METs
        --Designing a board
-technical terms (index?!)
-faq (attached)

including a lot of snapshots as e.g. Albert Silver did. I'm not sure
about the format of the bigger documentation (still texi?). Does anyone
now if it's possible to make a windows help file of any linux helpfile
format? I would like to have the big documentation in an extra file
(perhaps reachable from the windows program menue). Most of the users
seem to have MS Windows.

Is anyone besides Alef willing to help with the documentation? I guess
we should wait 3-4 days and then start organizing the tasks, beginning
with things like

--Name of the thingy (I still prefer "gnubg")
--Logo (The logo is intentionally blurred because of the 3d-effect, I
played around a bit with gimp ;-))
--agree on same technical terms
--similar structure in every chapter
--snapshots done by one author (same outfit)

Ciao

Achim
