[Adonthell-devel] Back to work

Didn't have much time since November, but I had a few days available
this week after travelling a bit. Now that I started working on some
stuff, I hope to keep it up in the weeks to come, albeit at a somewhat
slower pace. I'll be going over the various items listed under

  http://adonthell.berlios.de/doc/index.php/Category:Recreate_Waste%27s_Edge

The goal this time is to get everything non-artwork related done and
then use placeholder art (as needed) to put Waste's Edge together.
Then take that and go searching for somebody willing to polish things
on the graphical side.

For the time being, I wanted to have a go at the GUI related tasks,
like a proper NPC dialogue implementation. But when adding the
required portrait reference to the character data, I got sidetracked
into cleaning up some of the code related to character race and
factions. Still not entirely happy with the whole of it, and how it
relates to movement speed and pathfinding, but I'll need to come up
with a less complicated design first before making more changes to it.

>From there I got to the loading/saving part and that's probably the
thing I am going to complete first. Already adapted more stuff to be
serializable and I think apart from audio data and static items, there
isn't much else left. Then it gets down to actually testing, moving
the initialization of the serializer to each module and finally
writing a GUI to access slots other than the quick save.

If anyone is interested in helping, as always, you're welcome. In the
meantime, I'll see what I can get done. Check

Kai
