Thanks for the info.  I guess the xmegaA4 project idea will have to wait....

That's just the problem.  The local rep doesn't like to talk to
hobbyists.  He's only interested in production sales, not the
onesy-twosy projects.  And my current company designs their own SOC
ASIC's, so I can't use that connection either....

Well, I'll find a friend that perhaps can sweet talk the rep.
