Again, lsusb must be able to find your Dragon, and to obtain all the
standard data (product/vendor ID, serial number).

That wouldn't solve any of the low-level USB issues.

No, because the protocol to do this has never been released by Atmel,
and the firmware can only be had as part of a full AVR Studio
installation anyway.
