I just thought of the PLF variable myself, a few minutes ago!  In my case,
it is "sol9gccplatform".   Because I've defined a sol9gcc chunk in the top-level
Makefile.pamphlet (which I haven't sent you).
I'm not sure what is the best way to fix this.  My sol9gcc chunk is different 
from the
already-existing SUN4OS5 chunk, which would have defined PLF appropriately.

I'm going to leave that to you :-)

One question:  how do I check in what I have?  I know only the rudiments of
arch.  And is it going to check in all of my axiom--main--1--patch-23?
