In this essay Hamming makes some very interesting points. One of the
points is that we need to know what are the important problems in our
field. He used fridays to discuss only the important problems.

Which raises the question, 

  What are the important problems in computational mathematics?

I'd like to have some thoughts and discussion on this topic.
