Perhaps a new concept could be applied to Bayonne in that case. An option like --large-installation could be passed to configure and Bayonne would then get built for a large installation (with limitations like length of pathnames, etc.) and in those cases the user would knowingly choose to do this and would not be surprised by paths cut in half. I'm not sure I understood if the patch will be applied to Bayonne proper or not? I'm currently applying it to our version of Bayonne but I'd rather not do that in the long run. Erik.
