In this context, git is where the Bibledit developers store changes as they
go.  Once in a while they package up their code as a "tarball", and Ubuntu
packages are made from that.

The latest in Ubuntu is 3.7.42, but the latest in the Bibledit Git is much
newer, 3.8.2 or later.

If you decide to try using the Bibledit sources from Git and compiling it
yourself, please Uninstall the bibledit package from your machine first. 
Having a mix of packaged and locally-complied versions on the same machine can
lead to problems that are hard to troubleshoot.
