A bug report

Hello,

I am trying to compile "R" on an DS20E DEC-ALPHA machine.
Output of "configure" file asks me to send its report to you.
Since "configure" did not gracefully finish, "make" cannot be
run. I am sure experts in creating and examining the outputs of
configure file will look at this error report first and figure out
what is going on. Please find that error report as an attachment
to this e-mail.
