Bug with newline in prompt

Where ${bold} and ${unbold} are from setterm -bold on and setterm -bold
off

Problem: when typing past write margin (in xterms and console) text will
wrap
around itself rather than onto the next line. This behaivious is
different to 
when PS1 is without the \n
