Not very likely, since POSIX requires them.  Much more likely is that
your system has mulitple versions of id and you've got the wrong one
first in your $PATH.  If you read the man page carefully, you may find
that it actually documents different versions.  Alternatively, you may
find that there are multiple man pages to go along with the multiple
executables ("man -a" will usually show you *all* of the relevant man
pages rather than just the first one).
