[Bug-ed] Help with ed command

While using the ed command on AIX (7.1)server, the below command doesn't work : 

s/DB_ENC_PWD/$EncPassword/

However, when the same is changed to 

s,DB_ENC_PWD,$EncPassword

it starts working fine. Is there any explanation for this?
