Hi, I've had no problem in compiling glibc-2.3.1 with gcc-3.2.1 (released few
days ago)
Those are the steps:
#mkdir ../glibc-build
#cd ../glibc-build
#../glibc-2.3.1/configure --prefix=/usr --disable-profile --enable-add-ons
--libexecdir=/usr/bin --enable-kernel=2.4.19
#echo "cross-compiling = no" > configparms
#make
#env LANGUAGE=C LC_ALL=C make install
#make localedata/install-locales
Hope it helps,
Paolo

Subject: Building glibc-2.3.1 error
Hi again. I agreed with the advice of Andreas Jaeger
and I downloaded glibc-2.3.1 and tried to build it but
...
.........
/tmp/cc14KJCi.s: Assembler messages:
/tmp/cc14KJCi.s:46: Error: Unknown pseudo-op:
`.hidden'
make[1]: *** [kill.os] Error 1
make[1]: Leaving directory `/tmp/glibc-2.3.1/signal'
make: *** [signal/subdir_lib] Error 2
address@hidden:/tmp/glibc-2.3.1#
You see the new problem. I have no idea what's going
on.
I tried to build it:
#./configure --prefix=/usr
--enable-add-ons=linuxthread
#make
and than it stop building and I showed you the reasons
above.
Looking forward to seeing some help
