Gnash. GNU Gnash is the GNU Flash movie player

I am writing in regard to the upcoming discontinuation of support of Flash Player by Microsoft and Adobe.  I am not concerned with flash no longer being supported on websites or in internet web browsers but rather on systems running interactive teaching resource programs employing Flash content.

We have employed Adobe Flash to create complex technical/mechanical animations for our teaching resource programs for over a decade.  Most of our Flash animations are designed to illustrate the operation of commercial vehicle air brake systems and related components.  They are complex animations, often employing over 200 layers, and most employ audio and voiceover narration.  They are not, therefore candidates for conversion to the HTML5 or animated Gif formats.  Neither can handle the conversion of complex .swf animations with audio and voiceover.

We employ Indigo Rose AutoPlay Media Studio to package and distribute our multimedia support presentations.  The AutoPlay Media Studio program accepts and embeds .swf files and plays them perfectly.

We have over 1,000 education institution and truck transportation industry clients across North America and abroad who use our program on a daily basis.  Flash Player is, of course, presently installed on their systems, which allows our programs to function with Flash content.

I have seen several pop-up messages advising of Microsoft’s intention to discontinue Flash support and advising users to remove Flash Player from their systems.  If this is done our programs will no longer function as designed.

Can you tell me if your Gnash. GNU Flash Player alternative would be usable as a replacement for the current Flash Player in our  application?

Thank you and best regards,

Bryan Duross
