On GNU Emacs 21.1, whenever I call "ls" list a large directory, the
listed columns are not aligned. To reproduce (on Unix):
M-x eshell
ls /etc/
The misalignment is due to the new variable-size fonts.
I tried this and the problem did not happen: eshell used a fixed-width
font. Why is it that eshell uses a variable-width font for you? Could
you please provide the *precise* test case?
Please read the Bugs section in the Emacs manual, which provides
guidelines on how to write a bug report to give us the
necessary information so we can fix the bug.
