Sorry, I forgot that part of your report.

20.4 is as good as 20.7 for the purposes I had in mind, assuming that 
it was built with the same compiler, same assembler and linker, and the 
same libraries (is that the case?).  Do you still have that version on the 
same machine?  If so, could you please compare (a) the truss output and 
(b) the headers in src/m and src/s used to build v20.4 and v21.1, and 
tell what are the differences?
