Not so fast, Morris. I dare you to use your above two commands to
cite some text

You will see that it is impossible, no matter what you enter into the
minibuffer in response to supercite's prompt. From this it is clear that
supercite ignores traditional family values. It says, "oh no, we are
supercite, we are not regularcite. If you wanted regularcite than you
wouldn't have come to supercite."
Yeah, you're gonna probably tell me to set this hook, or that
variable... but no, what I want is just to have the freedom to do old
fashioned "> ", ": ", "| ", etc. cites without any extra pain beyond
that of making "Jim> ".
