Hi Thomas,

With the new smart phones, do we really need to make any *big* concessions?
Today probably not, but it was a different story in 2006.

My phone is a 200Mhz processor and I have 64MB free.
The quality of the Java implementations differs a lot, even when the CPU is comparable. There are interpreters, AOT and JIT compilers and CPU that understand bytecode as native assembler instructions given a spectrum from dead slow to equivalent an 1 GhZ P3. Adding another jar for "fast phones" would not be an issue.

Also for a full strength opponent if I had to wait a couple of seconds for a move, it is worth it.
Absolutely true. And anyone would have the option to choose the playing level.

Something different. Some of the readers of this list are aware that I read here too, but I guess the majority is not. When someone thinks discussion bgb2go on this list is an abuse of this mailing list, just drop me a line.

ciao
Frank
