I think it's easiest just to call this a documentation issue, in code comments
and meref.me.
I'm updating the wording accordingly. me(7) users can create their own named
environments if they choose, and can use .evc to copy from a desired one to
get the "global" line length instead of assuming that this will happen by some
other means.
