Follow-up Comment #8, bug #59920 (project groff):

Ingo sent some comments about the translation, but not to the bug.

So I might leave this open even after pushing the pending commit until we can
get someone with impenetrable confidence in their French to supply corrections
and sign off on the translation. How hard could _that_ be?

> +Si vous avez besoin de l'espacement apparaisse quelle que soit la
> +position sur la page,

This part cannot be right: "apparaisse" is subjonctif pr'esent, so
grammar *requires* the conjonction "que" before it. The phrase
"de <sujet> apparaisse" is ungrammatical.

That said, "avoir besoin de qqch" or "avoir besoin de + infinitif" is
definitely much more common than "avoir besoin que + subjonctif".
But since my French is a bit rusty, i looked it up in the Nouveau
Petit Robert, et voil`a, "avoir besoin que + subjonctif" is
correct French, too. The Robert even provides an example: "Il a
besoin qu`on le soutienne." (which means "He needs support.", or
literally "He has a need that others must support him.").
In this case, the rarer form with que + subjonctif is needed
because the subjects of the two phrases do not match.

The change from "quelque soit" to "quelle que soit", on the other
hand, is correct. We need the adjectif relatif here ("quelle que
soit la position" meaning "whatever the position might be"), not the
adjectif ind'efini ("quelque position" [without the "soit"] would
mean "some unspecified position"). The Robert explicitely warns
to not confuse the two. :-) But i freely admit i would have
confused them, too.

Je vous prie, messieurs, d'agr'eer `a l'expression
de ma consid'eration distingu'ee,
  Ingo
