From: G. Branden Robinson
Subject: [bug #62955] [grops] \(va fallback character overrides glyph available in S font
Date: Mon, 29 Aug 2022 15:19:49 -0400 (EDT)

Update of bug #62955 (project groff):

                Category:                 General => Device grops
                 Summary: \(va is still constructed out of \(ua and \(da
despite the glyph is defined in a special font => [grops] \(va fallback
character overrides glyph available in S font

Follow-up Comment #1:

You are correct, but you must be using a different Symbol font than I am
because the overstriking is _not_ apparent to me even in 36-point type.

$ cat EXPERIMENTS/va.roff
.ps 36
.vs 42
.nf
\(rsva: \(va
\(rso\(aq\(rsua\(rsda\(aq: \o'\(ua\(da'
$ ./build/test-groff -Z EXPERIMENTS/va.roff | grep '^C'
Crs
Cua
Cda
Crs
Caq
Crs
Crs
Caq
Cua
Cda

See attachment.

It seems that a lot of the character definitions in ps.tmac should be
reviewed.
