I have grub at my second computers HDD (no linux there). copied whole
/boot/grub directory to fat32 drive. I compiled grub with my primary
computer and installed it on floppy. Then I installed grub using boot disk
to my secondary computer and it works nicely. But I'll think you still
need one of supported platworms to compile it first or download bootdisk
image somewhere.
